Why Us

The club exists to provide opportunities for folks to enjoy life, make new friends and have fun with others. We also provide opportunities to serve, both others in the club and in the community. In service we find ways to develop meaningful relationships and grow personally.

The Camano Yacht Club was founded in 1968 as the Stanwood-Camano Yacht Club and incorporated as a not for profit organization in 1969. For the first several years meeting were held at the Sons of Norway Hall.

In 1985 the present site was purchased. With a clubhouse and boat house located on a no-bank waterfront lot with reasonably deep water and a unobstructed view of Saratoga Passage, the Olympic Mountains, and Whidbey Island the club had at last found a home.

In the intervening years the clubhouse was rebuilt and remodeled to enhance its usefulness to the members as a multi-purpose facility. The boat house was demolished and the grounds landscaped and the floating docks and boat launch redesigned and improved. Today boats up to 26′, 8000 lbs., and a beam of 10′ can be launched at the club.

In 2000 the club changed it’s name to the Camano Island Yacht Club to better reflect it’s membership base and today the club provides a friendly, casual atmosphere in which members enjoy each others company in a relaxed nautical setting.
