Cruising Group

Each year our CIYC cruising skippers host a variety of cruises throughout Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands, the Canadian Gulf Islands, and northern British Columbia destinations. We visit local anchorages, local marinas, popular island town destinations like Friday Harbor, and stunning anchorages only accessible by boat.

Cruises are designated for flexible length of duration and distance from home ports, including some with overnight shoreside amenities and vehicular access. This creates maximal opportunity for participation by Club boat owners with crafts of different sizes and capacities, and also for non-boat owners.

Our cruising members seek to maintain boat safety on the water and provide opportunities for continuous skills development, combined with nurturing friendship, camaraderie, and enjoyment for all.

We aspire to expand boating activities to all interested Club members, and encourage Club membership to any Camano Island or regional residents interested in boating. Come see what CIYC has to offer our local boating community

Land Skippers

The Land Skippers are the recreational vehicle enthusiasts of the club, who plan and participate in travels around the Northwest region in a variety of rigs, ranging from camping vans to campers, trailers, fifth wheels and motor homes. All club members are welcome to join with the group on various outings, as many of the planned trips are to locations with convenient motels or other facilities.

Kayaking Group

Our kayakers have weekly paddles from May through September, launching from our beach. They explore the wonderful wester coastline of our island from the waters of the Saratoga Passage, where the see seals and fishing jumping.

Classic Cars

Many club members also own classic and antique cars, and get together occasionally to revel in the glow of the shinning chrome and steel.

First Mates

The purpose of the First Mates is to support the yacht club by making recommendations to the Board of Directors, and planning events and activities throughout the year and proving financial support for facility improvements as well as social benefits to all members.

Founded in 1991 by then Fist lady Beverly Howlett, we continue to be a diverse group of women with skills and ideas to contribute to making our yacht club a successful organization, and we work closely with the CICY Board of Directors to this end. As individuals we host or work on dinners and other major club events.

Men’s Group

This group is open to all men in the club and hosts breakfasts and club Friday Night Opens. The men also pitch in with club projects where needed.
